Join us for our first installment of Literary Night at Nakato where we pair local authors with local musicians and make a night out of listening to everybody talents. We are very excited to have Rachael Hanel reading from her new book Not the Camilla We Knew: One Woman’s Life from Small-Town America to the Symbionese Liberation Army. In between readings Joe & Ann will be playing music of the era in celebration of the book. Afterwards Rachael will be selling and signing copies of the book.
Rachael Hanel lives and writes just outside of Mankato, Minnesota. She is a former newspaper reporter and copy editor and teaches Creative Writing at Minnesota State University, Mankato. She is the author of more than 20 nonfiction books for children. We’ll Be the Last Ones to Let You Down: Memoir of a Gravedigger’s Daughter, is her first book for adults.
Joe Tougas & Associates is a powerful collective of songwriters and players dealing in roots rock and jelly roll. Original works include “Sway,” “Single King” and the KMSU Smash Hit Song of the Summer, “Daddy’s Car.” The Associates are: Joe Tougas, Ann Fee, Shelley Pierce, Evan Beirer, Scott Rahe, Kaitlin Baumann Hohenstein, Abigail Kimble and Michelle Roche.
